Pixel 9 — 421 ppi, 480 dpi (xxhdpi)
The Pixel 9 keeps a 1080×2424 panel at 6.3 inches, the same diagonal as the 9 Pro but with fewer pixels. The result is a lower ppi that still lands in xxhdpi, which is the sweet spot most Android phones have converged on: sharp enough that text is crisp, cheap enough that battery life does not suffer.

Density on the Pixel 9
At this ppi Android scales by 3×, so 1 dp is 3 physical pixels. That is the same scale the 9 Pro uses, which is why the two devices feel like the same density class even though one has visibly more pixels per inch.
What layout it actually gets
The logical width works out to just over 360 dp, the canonical Android phone width that most Material layouts are designed against. If a layout looks correct on the Pixel 9, it will look correct on the majority of Android phones in use.
Practical notes
Because 1080×2424 at 6.3 inches is such a common configuration, treat this device as your baseline phone when checking a layout. If it breaks here, it will break on a large share of the install base.
