Pixel 7 — 418 ppi, 480 dpi (xxhdpi)

The Pixel 7's 1080×2400 panel at 6.3 inches produces a ppi right in the middle of the xxhdpi range. It is one of the most common Android configurations in the wild, which makes its numbers a good reference point when you are sanity-checking a layout that has to work everywhere.

Density on the Pixel 7

Android uses a 3× scale factor here, so a 16 sp body text size renders at 48 physical pixels. The density bucket, not the raw resolution, is what the resource system actually branches on — this is why a drawable placed in mipmap-xxhdpi looks right on the Pixel 7.

What layout it actually gets

The dp box is roughly 360 × 800, which is the classic Android phone canvas. Anything you design at 360 dp wide will fit without horizontal scrolling on this device, and the extra vertical space is what modern tall-phone layouts exploit.

Practical notes

When someone reports that an app 'looks different on my Pixel 7', the cause is usually font scaling rather than density. Check the user's display size setting before you start changing your dp values.
